Staying Safe on Halloween
Updated On: Nov 16, 2008

This year the Southampton Town Police Benevolent Association is promoting a GREEN HALLOWEEN while helping to make the day safer for our children.

The members of the Southampton Town Police will be handing out Halloween Trick-or-Treat bags that promote safety and litter prevention to children up to the 3rd grade who live in our township.  These bags are made of degradable plastic which breaks down safely into water, carbon dioxide and a small amount of inert residues. It is a superior "environmentally friendly" product that does NOT require any special conditions. They'll degrade under any condition: in the air, in the water, or on land.  Degradable bags are superior to biodegradable bags because no special conditions are necessary for the degrading process to begin.

Police Officers and McGruff, our crime prevention mascot, will be visiting some of the area schools to give safety talks to the younger children and answer any questions they might have about keeping safe on Halloween.
